Little Mountain, a forest in the heart of Trout Lake valley
Keep Little Mountain as a living forest for future generations
Twin Creeks Timber (TCT) bought 60,000 acres of forest from SDS including 147 acres on Little Mountain in the heart of the Trout Lake valley. This is only a minuscule fraction of the land they own in Washington - a drop in the bucket.
Twin Creeks and their forest management company Green Diamond (GD) intend to clear cut 106 acres this spring and spray the area with herbicides and then sell it for development.
A group of concerned citizens has come together to form Friends of Little Mountain.
Our goals for Little Mountain are:
To use alternatives such as thinning and selective logging on all 147 acres instead of clear cutting the only forest left within the Trout Lake valley. They already plan thinning on 40 acres.
To have a healthy sustainably managed working forest of 147 acres.
To create, over time, a Forest at Little Mountain for future generations to enjoy.
